What the fuck is up with the Supreme Court

Justice Scalia, what the fuck is wrong with you? Here is a brief transcript of his interview with 60 minutes, as provided by Democracy Now.

Justice Scalia: I don’t like torture. I’m—although defining it is going to be a nice trick. But, I mean, who’s in favor of it? Nobody. And we have a law against torture. But if the—everything that is hateful and odious is not covered by some provision of the Constitution.

Lesley Stahl: If someone’s in custody, as in Abu Ghraib, and they are brutalized by a law enforcement person, if you listen to the expression, ‘cruel and unusual punishment,’ doesn’t that apply?

Justice Scalia: “No, no.”

Stahl: “Cruel and unusual punishment?”

Justice Scalia: “To the contrary. You think—you think that you would—has anybody ever referred to torture as punishment? I don’t think so.”

Stahl: “Well, I think if you’re in custody and you have a policeman who’s taken you into custody—”

Justice Scalia: “And you say he’s punishing you?”

Stahl: “Sure.”

Justice Scalia: “What’s he punishing you for? You punish somebody—”

Stahl: “Well, because he assumes you, one, either committed a crime—”

Justice Scalia: “No, no.”

Stahl: “—or that you know something that he wants to know.”

Justice Scalia: “It’s the latter. And when he’s—when he’s—when he’s hurting you in order to get information from you—”

Stahl: “Yeah.”

Justice Scalia: “—you don’t say he’s punishing you. What’s he punishing you for? He’s trying to extract—”

Stahl: “Because he thinks you’re a terrorist, and he’s going to beat the you-know-what out of you.”

Justice Scalia: “Anyway, that’s my view. And it happens to be correct.”

And this fucktard is on the Supreme Court? Thanks Bush for his appointment. Maybe Harriet would have been a better choice after all. If he is going to allow this for prisoners in American custody abroad, it will only be a matter of time before this is allowed for prisoners in American custody in the homeland.

April Fucktard of the Month

This prestigious honor goes to Mr. Will Utt of KBR. Pretty much, he runs a company that imprisoned a woman contract worker in Iraq because she wanted to complain the fact that she was raped. Other cases of women getting raped by KBR employees without the company providing support, assistance, or punishment have been documented.

Yet, despite all these reports, KBR is still getting multi-million dollar government contracts. These people are the worse of the worse when it comes to war profiteering.

What kills me is that Congress has done absolutely shit about this, besides holding a hearing that went nowhere.

Second runner up, George W. Bush for his feigning for the care of veterans of a war he started. It was a very close second.

EPA, you are on notice....bitches.

All right, the big thing I talked about earlier probably isn't a big thing, retrospectively. And, since this is 'Earth Week' or whatever hippy holiday it is, I decided to do my part, all be it limited and very non-time consuming.

I was looking at new cars, specifically the stickers. As most know, each car sold in the U.S. has to have a mileage rating, both for city and highway driving. Well, I was curious how the highway mileage was calculated.

When I was driving to Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky, and Virginia, I noticed that the national highway speed set by these states were at least over 65 mph, and some over 70 mph. When the Highway Mileage Display (I do not know the specific law's name) law went into effect, the national highway average was 55mph. Now that most states increased their mileage to over 65+, few still have 55, I believe. I was just curious if the new highway mileage took this into account. Because, after all, what is the point of having a highway speed determined at 55mph when you live in a region where it is over 65mph. Doesn't seem to make much sense to me.

Well, I asked this question. I went to the www.fueleconomy.gov website, found the contact person, selected my regional representative (NY is region 2), and sent off an e-mail earlier this week, asking this very question.

Now, it is Thursday, and no response. Not sure if this is a good thing, or bad. Granted, it is green week and I am sure the EPA is busy, but I do not think it takes much to answer, Yes, highway mileage is calulcated at 65mph, or no it is not.

Well, if I do not hear from them in about a week from today, I will do something I will forever regret. I will enlist the services of Greenpeace so that their army of lobbyists can figure this shit out and hopefully change it. Their bastards, and will always be, but Hell, every bastard can be usefull from time to time.

But, without suing, how can we force a company to comply? Companies aren't going to do this voluntarily unless the get called out for it and it'll cost them more money. Dumbass.

Oh, your whole 'Im for the veterans is bullshit.' You need to be called out on it. Like for instance, this. Seriously, you are that desperate where you calling up people who are DEAF, not because he was born that way, because he was in an Afghanistan shithole and a rocket exploded near him.

Or how about this, where you finally fired the commander who ran the Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital. But, too bad, you cut the funds for that so he could not perform the upgrades.

Or this article, where veterans are committing suicide at the rate of 17 per day because they were denied treatment at the VA Hospitals.

Or this instance, where the VA denied health care because he left Iraq under the 'sole survivor' rule when his two other brothers were killed.


To President Bush:
You don't give two shits about veterans. Never have, never will. Don't pretend otherwise. Maybe if you and your cronies would stop the war profiteering, maybe you can actually spend some money on these people.
